BTS Members' Solo Works Continue Global Chart Success in New Year
BTS members' solo works continue to climb global music charts in the new year, showing remarkable staying power.
j-hope's 'Blue Side (Outro)' from his 2018 mixtape 'Hope World' has entered Billboard's latest charts (dated January 11). The track, released nearly seven years ago, ranked No. 3 on 'World Digital Song Sales' and No. 13 on 'Digital Song Sales'. This performance is attributed to anticipation for j-hope's activities in 2025.
JIMIN's 'Who', the title track from his second solo album 'MUSE', demonstrated impressive momentum by re-entering the main song chart 'Hot 100' at No. 24. 'MUSE' maintained its position on the main album chart 'Billboard 200' at No. 106. JIMIN's success continued across detailed charts, with 'Who' entering the top 10 on both 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' (No. 9) and 'Global 200' (No. 10). Notably, the song climbed 35 and 36 spots respectively on each chart from the previous week, proving its enduring popularity. 'MUSE' continues its long-running success, holding at No. 2 on the 'World Albums' chart.
V's winter songs maintain steady popularity in early 2024. His duet with Park Hyo Shin, 'Winter Ahead', ranked No. 46 on 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' and No. 82 on 'Global 200', rising 17 and 23 spots respectively from the previous week.
Jin's solo album 'Happy' shows strength on album charts, landing at No. 13 on 'World Albums' and No. 42 on 'Top Current Album Sales'. The title track 'Running Wild' climbed 45 spots to reach No. 85 on 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' and re-entered 'Global 200' at No. 172. Jung Kook's debut solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)' continues its steady success, rising from No. 125 to No. 61 on 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' and re-entering 'Global 200' at No. 97.
BTS's popularity is also evident on the UK Official Charts. JIMIN's 'Who' re-entered the latest UK Official Singles Chart at No. 64, maintaining its position for 18 weeks total - the longest-charting K-pop solo song since the chart's 2014 reform. 'Who' also ranked on 'Audio Streaming' (No. 30) and 'Streaming' (No. 34).
j-hope's 'Blue Side (Outro)' made its debut on the Official Charts, entering at No. 16 on 'Singles Downloads' and No. 20 on 'Singles Sales'. V's collaboration with Bing Crosby, 'White Christmas', jumped 78 spots to No. 13 on 'Singles Sales' and re-entered 'Singles Downloads' at No. 11.
Additionally, the music video for 'DOPE' from BTS's third mini album 'The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt.1', released in April 2015, surpassed 800 million views on YouTube around 10:36 AM on January 1. This count is solely from the 1theK YouTube channel; combined with views from HYBE Labels' official YouTube channel, the total approaches 1 billion views. This makes it BTS's ninth music video to surpass 800 million views.
